International Economic Association

The International Economic Association is an international association of economists based in Barcelona .

background

The association was initiated by UNESCO in 1950 . The aim of the organization is to maintain contacts and exchange ideas between economists from all parts of the world. To this end, it organizes science congresses, comprehensive research programs and support for the publication of specialist articles on current topics.

The organization is led by a 15-member executive committee that determines the focus of the current work. There is also a council in which the respective member organizations are represented. There are currently 60 member organizations. a. the American Economic Association , the Verein für Socialpolitik , the Swiss Society for Economics and Statistics and the Royal Economic Society . There are also associated members such as the European Economic Association or the International Association for Feminist Economics .
