Edmond Malinvaud
Edmond Camille Malinvaud (born April 25, 1923 in Limoges , † March 7, 2015 in Paris ) was a French economist .
Life
Edmond Malinvaud was born as the son of the lawyer Auguste Malinvaud and his wife Andrée, b. Ballet born. He attended the Gay Lussac High School in Limoges and the Lycée du Parc in Lyon . He then studied economics , mathematics and statistics in Paris at the École polytechnique (diploma 1946) and at the École nationale de la statistique et de l'administration économique (ENSAE) (diploma 1948). Then he went to the Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques (INSEE), whose general inspector he was from 1966 to 1974 and whose general director he was from 1974 to 1987. From 1950 to 1951 the Rockefeller Foundation made it possible for him to work on the Cowles Commission for Research in Economics at the University of Chicago . From 1957 to 1993 he was director of studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales and from 1962 to 1966 director of ENSAE. He was visiting professor at the University of California, Berkeley in 1961 and 1967 and at the Sorbonne from 1969 to 1972 . From 1972 to 1974 he was director of the forecast department of the French Ministry of Economy and Finance . After leaving INSEE in 1987, he was Professor of Economic Analysis at the Collège de France from 1988 to 1993 .
Malinvaud has been married to Elisabeth Compagnon since September 13, 1952 and has daughters Cécile and Catherine.

Malinvaud works “ in the field of mathematical and applied micro- and macro-theory, econometrics and statistics in connection with practical-political implementation in a leading position at the highest level. His pioneering achievements in the synthesis of Keynesianism and neoclassicism, the explanation of unemployment with rigid prices, the development of the imbalance theory and statistical-econometric estimation methods are just as noteworthy as his constant endeavor to apply his scientific knowledge to reality. "
