The International Dachsberg Turn Festival is a traditional multi-day mountain sports festival that takes place on the Dachsberg near Dachsberg in the district of Waldshut , Baden-Württemberg , Germany .
history
The history of the Dachsberg gymnastics festival is closely linked to the history of the Dachsberg gymnastics and sports club, which was founded on March 15, 1952. The basis for the Dachsberg Turn Festival is a board resolution under Egon Berger of April 26, 1952, on the basis of which a forest sports field is created on the Dachsberg. Willi Röthenmeier developed the idea for a mountain gymnastics festival on the Dachsberg, in the tradition of the 19th century gymnastics movement. Construction work began on May 1, 1952. The gymnasts of the club generate additional funds through events in order to put the building and the club's coffers on a solid foundation. On September 7th of the same year the new facility is inaugurated with an autumn festival and gymnastics, in which the Waldshut gymnastics club also takes part.
The first Dachsberg gymnastics festival takes place on September 23, 1953, with 240 participants on site. A lease agreement for the forest sports field can be concluded with the community, so on April 15, 1954 the association decided to build an equipment hall so that gymnastic equipment could be stored away from the weather. In 1955 a mountain gymnastics festival winner was determined for the first time, it was Eugen Keller from Bad Säckingen . On the occasion of the 12th Dachsberg Gymnastics Festival on August 29, 1965, 664 competitors are already at the start. At the 15th Dachsbergturnfest in September 1968, a memorial stone was unveiled for Willi Röthenmeier, who died in 1962, honoring the initiator of the Dachsbergurnfest. On September 2, 1973, a people's march was organized for the first time together with the Dachsberg Turn Festival. At the 22nd Dachsberg Gymnastics Festival on September 7, 1975, a new record was set with 696 participants. For the 25th anniversary on September 3, 1978, the Waldshut Spielmannszug took part, and ten founding members were honored at a banquet. At the 29th Dachsberg gymnastics festival on September 5, 1982, the victory in the mountain gymnastics festival went to a club member, Edwin Ebi for the first time. On the occasion of the 37th Dachsbergturnfest from August 31 to September 2, 1990, the Südwestrundfunk is on site and reports for its program Sport under the microscope . A flag consecration and a banquet round off the event.
1992 brought an important change. For the first time, the Dachsberg Turn Festival is being advertised internationally. It is now called the International Dachsberg Turn Festival. Members Reinhold Berger and Manfred Ebner are honored with the Gau badge of honor for their services at the 40th International Dachsberg Turn Festival.
Just one day after the 49th Dachsberg gymnastics festival in 2002, the planning for a contemporary renovation of the forest sports field, which provides for attractive sports facilities, begins. The previous system for the shot put will be leveled and laid out in terraces. The facility for long jump will be expanded so that it will be suitable for beach volleyball in the future . The previous run-up track for the long jump will be transformed into a hard court. The track for 100-meter runs will be completely rebuilt. The sanitary facilities with showers and toilets are being renovated. The earthworks will begin in mid-September 2002, and the association members will be helping out until the end of November. From March 2003, the work can be continued and completed on time for the anniversary event of the 50th International Dachsberg Turn Festival thanks to voluntary work.
The Swiss Res Ott from the Hüntwangen gymnastics club in the canton of Zurich has won the International Dachsberg Gymnastics Festival ten times .

Among other things, winners are awarded hiking prizes for team competitions.
Supporting program
As part of the International Dachsberg Gymnastics Festival, courses are offered for beginners and advanced Nordic walking enthusiasts. In 2009 an aerobics afternoon will be held for the first time . In a marquee at the forest sports field, a band provides amusement with dance, entertainment, food and drink. Aerobic, dance and gymnastics shows and performances are part of it.
