Irene Rothweiler (born June 10, 1958 in Aachen ), also known as Irene Hugot-Rothweiler , is a German painter and glass designer. She lives in Bonn .

Life

Through her father Leo Hugot , architect, city curator and cathedral builder in Aachen, Irene Rothweiler came into contact with church and art at an early age. But first she studied dance and music education.

After studying art history in Cologne and Aachen, she did a practical apprenticeship at the Oidtmann glass painting company in Linnich. The personal contact to Wilhelm Buschulte , Klaus Iserlohe and Georg Meistermann formed Rothweiler in his early years. Participation in stained glass competitions at home and abroad, where she won first prizes, gave her her first commissioned work. Irene Hugot-Rothweiler has designed church windows, wall paintings and mosaics in churches and chapels in several dioceses in Germany. She also designs chasuble robes . Her works can also be found in Belgium, France, Spain, Italy and Israel.

plant

Irene Rothweiler sees her art as “a creative process accompanied by intensive discussions with priests and parishioners. Your personal attitude towards faith plays a decisive role ”. Special knowledge of Christian iconography and the faithful craftsmanship in the traditional technique with real antique glass, black solder and differentiated lead thicknesses can be seen in her works.
