Isabella von Treskow (born April 18, 1964 in Hagen , Westphalia ) is a German Romance scholar and holder of the chair for French and Italian literature at the University of Regensburg .

Life

Isabella von Treskow grew up in Berlin . She studied German, Romance studies and history at the Free University of Berlin , Romance studies and German studies at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and Lettres modern at the Université Paul Valéry Montpellier III . In 1986/87 she worked as an assistant de langue étrangère in Perpignan . At the University of Heidelberg she received her PhD in Romance Studies in 1995 with a dissertation on Denis Diderot and Volker Braun. The habilitation took place in 2006 at the University of Potsdam . From 2006 to 2007 she represented the professorship for Romance literature at the University of Erfurt , and from 2008 to 2009 the professorship for French and Italian literature and media studies at the University of Mannheim . From 2007 to 2009 she lived in Brussels . She has been a professor at the University of Regensburg since 2009. In 2017 she was a visiting professor at the Université Clermont Auvergne (Lettres moderne), and since 2016 she has been a member of the Comitato direttivo of the AIPI (Associazione Internazionale dei Professori d'Italiano).

research

Isabella von Treskow's main research interests are in the areas of literature, culture and violence; aesthetic perception; History of knowledge and intellectual history with a special focus on the Enlightenment; French literature and culture of Algeria; Gender studies. A current research project (autumn 2018) relates to prisoners of war in Regensburg during the First World War.

Teaching

Teaching focuses on literature and media in the context of the First and Second World Wars and the Shoah , French and Italian cultural history, the French Enlightenment , French literature in Algeria and gender studies .
