Bernhard Lübbers (* 1976 in Rotthalmünster , Niederbayern , Bavaria ) is a German historian and librarian . He is the director of the Regensburg State Library .

Life

Bernhard Lübbers was born in Rotthalmünster ( Lkr. Passau ) in 1976 as the youngest of three children. He attended the music high school of the Regensburger Domspatzen , where he obtained the general university entrance qualification in 1995 . From 1996 to 2002 Lübbers studied history , historical auxiliary sciences , German and folklore at the Universities of Regensburg , Munich and Dublin . From 2002 he worked as a research assistant at the Department of Medieval History and Auxiliary Historical Sciences at Franz Fuchs at the University of Würzburg before in which he in 2006 clerkship in the higher Bavarian library service at the Regensburg University Library and the Library Akademie Bayern entered. In the same year he was awarded with the work “The oldest accounts of the Aldersbach monastery (1291-1373 / 1409). Analysis and Edition "for Dr. phil. PhD. Since 2008 he has headed the State Library in Regensburg and since 2018 provisionally the State Library in Neuburg an der Donau .

Lübbers researches, teaches and publishes increasingly on library and book history , Bavarian regional history ( Middle Ages up to the 19th century ) and the history of Regensburg .

Bernhard Lübbers has two children and lives in Regensburg.

Functions and memberships

Lübbers is a lecturer at the chairs for Bavarian State History and Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Regensburg, lectures at the Library Academy Bavaria Library History and supervises the module "Historical Library Holdings" at the Department of Archives and Libraries at the University of Public Services in Bavaria . Lübbers represents the regional state libraries of Bavaria on the advisory board of the Bavarian Library Forum. He is also a board member and association librarian of the Historical Association for Upper Palatinate and Regensburg . He is editor of the association's annual publication negotiations and co-editor of the yearbook for book and library history.

In addition, Bernhard Lübbers is a member of various associations, including the Johann Andreas Schmeller Society , the Association of German Librarians (VDB) , the Historical Association for Lower Bavaria and the Association of Friends of the Regensburg Cathedral Choir
