Artistic style
Schad's work is at the interface between dance, performance and the visual arts. The focus is on group work, whereby bodies and movements are examined for their materiality, processuality and experience, and physical practice is viewed as a place for learning processes, community and political participation. It is based on somatic body practice such as body-mind centering , significantly influenced by an embryology workshop with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. Shiatsu and Asian movement lessons such as u. a. Meridian work, Aikido Zen and Qigong are important elements of her artistic expression. References between western and eastern ways of thinking are reflected in her solo and group works.
Community formation in dance and the body as a place of resistance are also formulated and norm, competition, discipline, conformity and the status of collective processes are examined and the collective body is examined for its visceral and cognitive dimensions. She worked several times with the visual artist Laurent Goldring.
