Ivan Prenđa

Ivan Prenđa (born December 31, 1939 in Gornji Zemun , Yugoslavia , today Croatia , † January 25, 2010 in Zagreb ) was Archbishop of Zadar .

Life

After graduating from the archiepiscopal grammar school in Zadar , Ivan Prenđa studied theology in Zagreb , where he obtained a licentiate as a graduate theologian in 1967 . He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1964 in Zadar. Between 1964 and 1968 he worked as a chaplain in the parishes of Škabrnja and Nadin as well as Smilčić . From 1968 to 1970 he was spiritual director of the seminary "Zmajević" in Zadar, ibid from 1970 to the year 1992 rain the Archbishop's Seminary of Zadar. In addition to these tasks, Ivan Prenđa was a youth catechist from 1970 to 1972, 1981 to 1990 correspondent for the Roman Catholic church newspaper Glas Koncila and from 1990 head of the archbishop's department for vocations of the Archdiocese of Zadar.

Ivan Prenđa was President of the Council for the Croatian Clergy in the Croatian Bishops' Conference .

He died unexpectedly after a mass in Zagreb.
