Ivo Daalder

Ivo H. Daalder (born March 2, 1960 in The Hague ) is an American security expert and diplomat . Since July 2013 he has been chairman of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Prior to that, he served the US as its permanent representative to the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) Council from 2009 to 2013. Daalder worked on the United States National Security Council (NSC) under Bill Clinton's administration and was one of Barack Obama's foreign policy advisers during that time 2008 presidential campaign.

Life

Daalder studied at the University of Kent , Oxford University and Georgetown University . His Ph.D. in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology .
