The city is on the Yatsushiro Sea .

history

Today's municipality was formed on 13 March 2006 by merging the old with the cities Izumi Noda ( 野田町 , - chō ) and Takaono ( 高尾野町 , -chō ) from the district of Kagoshima . The county now consisted of only one municipality - Nagashima .
