József-Csaba Pál (born December 5, 1955 in Frumoasa , Romania ) is a Romanian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Timișoara .

Life

József-Csaba Pál was born on December 3, 1955 in Frumoasa in the Szeklerland , but his hometown is the neighboring village of Șoimeni-Ciuc . He graduated from middle school in Karlsburg , where he also attended the theological college and the seminary. After graduation, he was on 21 June in 1981 by bishop Antal Jakab for ordained priests . He was then chaplain for four years at the parish of John the Baptist in Neumarkt in Transylvania .

Since 1985 he has served in the Diocese of Timisoara . The then professor Sebastian Kräuter appointed Pál pastor of Bacova , Busiasch and Nitzkydorf . In 1987 he appointed him pastor in the parish Maria Schnee in Reschitza . He looked after this parish for three decades. Pastor József-Csaba Pál was later appointed dean and archdean of the Banat mountainous region as well as a canon of honor.

Pál has published the monthly magazine "Vita Catholica Banatus" since 1994 and is responsible for its editing. In view of his services to the spiritual life and ecumenism, the District Councilor Caras-Severin awarded him the title of honorary citizen in 2010.

On May 16, 2018, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Timișoara. The episcopal ordination received his his predecessor Martin Roos on August 6 of that year, the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord , in the Cathedral of St.. George to Timisoara. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Bucharest , Ioan Robu , and the Archbishop of Alba Iulia, György Jakubinyi .
