Jörg Faerber
Jörg Faerber (born June 18, 1929 in Stuttgart ) is a German conductor and long-time managing director of the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn (WKO).
Life
Faerber completed his Abitur at a humanistic grammar school in Stuttgart in 1949 and passed the Kapellmeister examination at the Stuttgart State University of Music in 1953 . Until 1962 he held the position of musical director of the Heilbronn Theater .
Shortly after it was founded in 1960, he became artistic director and managing director of the WKO, which he headed artistically and economically as conductor and managing director until February 2002 and with whom he toured the USA , Canada , Japan and South Africa . The soloists Anne-Sophie Mutter , Alfred Brendel , Maurice André , Heinz Holliger , Barry Tuckwell , Martha Argerich , Rudolf Buchbinder , Justus Frantz , Sabine Meyer , Hermann Baumann , Michala Petri , Thomas Quasthoff and Gidon Kremer met regularly with the WKO. Faerber has been invited to guest conductors with orchestras from the British BBC and the English Chamber Orchestra .
Honors
In 1976 Faerber was awarded the Golden Mint of the City of Heilbronn , in 1979, 1984 and 2000 with the Medal of Merit from Heilbronn's twin city Béziers in France , in 1984 with the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon , in 1986 with the title of professor and in 1999 with the Ring of Honor of the City of Heilbronn. Since 2002 he has been honorary conductor of the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra in Heilbronn.
