Jörg Kalt

Jörg Kalt (born January 11, 1967 in Suresnes , France ; † July 1, 2007 in Vienna ) was a journalist , film director and screenwriter living and working in Austria .

Life

Kalt grew up in Zurich and Munich. He finally began to study English and law at the University of Zurich . In 1991 he turned to film and studied directing for two years at the Faculty of Film and Television of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and from 1994 at the Vienna Film Academy with Peter Patzak . In addition, Kalt worked as a journalist and columnist, including for the Swiss magazine du . Kalt also worked on scripts by Mirjam Unger , Antonin Svoboda and Barbara Albert .

Kalt quickly gained attention with his films. Towards the future through the night was awarded the jury's prize at the Max Ophüls Film Festival in Saarbrücken. Crash Test Dummies was premiered at the Berlinale 2005 and the Diagonale opened in Graz that same year.

Jörg Kalt died of suicide in 2007 at the age of 40 .
