Jörg Maurer (* 1953 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a German cabaret artist and author.

Career

After graduating from high school , Jörg Maurer decided to study German , English and theater studies . He wrote his master's thesis on the writer Arno Schmidt .

For five years he worked as a German teacher at Munich high schools, various activities in adult education were also part of his field of activity. For two semesters he was a professor for theater history at Munich University .

From 1980 he realized his own productions in small Munich theaters, mainly in the "Theater Drehleier", in the Munich Lustspielhaus , in the "Fraunhofer Theater" and in the "Hinterhoftheater" as a director, cabaret artist and musician.

Radio and television reports followed. Through his busy touring at home and abroad he developed his own form of cultural satirical music cabaret during this time. In total, he performed over 2000 appearances in German-speaking countries.

From 1991 Jörg Maurer moderated several radio programs, including "Radio Expresso" on Bavarian radio . Many contributions for the WDR followed. In 1994 he took over the former "theater k" in Schwabing and reopened it under the name Jörg Maurer's Unterton . He has been an author of short stories and crime thrillers since 2002 and has won numerous awards. TV appearances followed, including in Ottis Schlachthof in the BR and on Christoph Süß ' BR show "Süßstoff".

In March 2009, Jörg Maurer's first crime novel Föhnlage with the character of the inspector Hubertus Jennerwein was published by Fischer Taschenbuch Verlag . Another volume in this series was published in the following years. In May 2009 he handed over the premises of Jörg Maurer's Unterton to the theater ... and so on . Föhnlage was filmed in 2011 ; Maurer plays a guest role in it.

In 2013, Maurer was awarded the Radio Bremen Crime Prize for his Alpine thrillers .

In 2020 he was appointed to the Munich tower scribe.
