Jörn-Torsten Verleger (born March 19, 1972 in Nuremberg ) is a German sports official .

Life

Verleger grew up in Wendelstein ( district of Roth ) and was chairman of TSV 1927 Röthenbach / St.W between 1999 and 2003 . From 1993 to 1999 he was previously the club's youth leader. Between 1997 and 2003, Verleger was a member of the board of directors of the Central Franconian District Youth Association, of which from 2001 to 2003 it was deputy chairman.

From 1992 to 1998 he studied law at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg and graduated with a state examination. During his legal clerkship, he spent 2000 abroad in the EU office of German Sports in Brussels ( Belgium ) and in 2001 with the International Canoe Association ( ICF ) in Madrid.

From 2001 to 2002, publisher completed the part-time MEMOS (Master Européen en Management des Organizations Sportives) course at the University of Lyon I in France.

Verleger has been managing director of Grünwalder Freizeitpark GmbH, a municipal sports facility near Munich, since October 2011 . Before that, he worked for the German Youth Sports Association (dsj), the German Sports Association (DSB), the application committee for the Olympic Games in Leipzig 2012 and the state capital Dresden .

In August 2019 he was elected the 6th President in the history of the International Fistball Association (IFA). He is the first German to head the IFA. Before that, he was IFA Secretary General from 2015 to 2019 and previously Chairman of the IFA Working Group on Future Development (2014–2015). As IFA Secretary General and beyond, he held various positions within IFA, e. B. IFA Anti-Doping Administrator (2015-2018), IFA Data Protection Officer (2017-2019), IFA Competition Manager at the IFA U18 Fistball World Cup 2016 and the IFA Fistball World Tour Final 2018. In addition was the publisher as OK member of the IFA Fistball Women's World Cup 2018 in Linz and the IFA Fistball World Tour Finals Salzburg 2019, responsible for the areas of hospitality and catering.

As a sports manager, Verleger has been organizing and overseeing international sports events and sports networks since the 2000s, including the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Dresden, the FIDE Chess Olympiad Dresden 2008 and several ITTF World Table Tennis Championships (2006, 2012, 2017).

He is chairman of the IWGA Anti-Doping Committee (International World Games Association) and works as an anti-doping officer for the WFDF (World Flying Disc Federation) and the World Minigolf Sport Federation ( WMF ). He is a member of the parasport commissions of the WSF (World Squash Federation) and the WFDF .
