The Jewish cemetery Illingen is a Jewish cemetery in Illingen in the Neunkirchen district in Saarland . It is a monument .

Tombstones

On the cemetery Heister Street / Raßweilerweg about 180 intact are grave stones preserved. It is surrounded by a wall on which the remains of the portal of the former synagogue were located until the end of the 1990s .

The cemetery, established in 1747, was enlarged in 1905 and 1923. The dead of the Jewish communities Neunkirchen and Ottweiler were also buried here until 1831. The cemetery was destroyed in the Nazi era in 1938 , the stones were cleared in 1939 and the site was bought by the political community. In 1949 the cemetery was largely restored. The memorial erected in the same year bears the inscription: The synagogue community Illingen, its destroyed church, its dead and victims of violence as an honorable memory! Erected by the Illingen civil parish - Saar synagogue parish in 1949 .
