The Kordel Jewish cemetery is a cemetery in Kordel , a municipality in the Trier-Saarburg district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It stands as a cultural monument under monument protection .

The Jewish cemetery , which is accessible via an inconspicuous staircase between two houses, is located on the western outskirts on a slope above the property of the building Unterm Möhnerberg 14 . In the enclosed cemetery there are four gravestones from around 1914 and numerous fragments.

history

The cemetery was laid out around 1900 for the few Jewish families living in Kordel. During the Nazi era , the cemetery was desecrated and destroyed, the remaining tombstone fragments remind of this.
