The Jewish cemetery is located on a hill between the core town of Kirf and Meurich , a district of Kirf, not far west of the B 407 .

There are no more tombstones . A memorial stone erected in 1962 bears the inscription, which is barely legible today: "In memory of the members of the communities of Kirf - Meurich - Freudenburg who died in the persecution".

history

The dead of the Jewish community in Kirf were first buried in the cemetery in Freudenburg . In the mid-1920s, a separate cemetery was laid out between Kirf and Meurich for the Jewish families living in Kirf and Meurich. Twelve Jewish people from Kirf and Meurich were buried in this cemetery by 1939. The cemetery was desecrated during the Nazi era and the tombstones were removed. Originally there was a plaque with the names of those buried. It had been placed on one of the graves in place of the tombstones. This memorial plaque was destroyed by "Unknown" years ago and has not been replaced.
