Jewish cemetery (Könen)
The Jewish cemetery in Könen , a district of Konz on the Moselle in the Trier-Saarburg district in Rhineland-Palatinate , was laid out in the middle of the 19th century. The Jewish cemetery , which is located above Reiniger Straße No. 5, is a protected cultural monument .
Until the cemetery was established, the dead of the Jewish community in Könen were buried in the Jewish cemetery in Freudenburg .
The cemetery was occupied from 1855 to 1935. Fifteen tombstones from the first third of the 20th century have been preserved in the small, enclosed complex .
During the time of National Socialism , the cemetery was probably partially cleared. The tombstones that still exist today survived in the chicken coop in the neighboring house.
