Jewish cemetery (Niederzerf)
The Jewish cemetery Niederzerf is a cemetery in the Niederzerf district of the local community Zerf in the Trier-Saarburg district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It stands as a cultural monument under monument protection .
The Jewish cemetery is located in Niederzerf at the end of the “Mühlenflur” street, not far from the Ruwer flowing to the west . It is a small hedge-enclosed complex on which eleven grave sites from the years 1906 to 1937 have been preserved.
history
Around 1905 the Jewish cemetery in Niederzerf was laid out for the Jewish families living in Niederzerf, Greimerath (VG Kell am See), Pellingen (VG Konz) and Schillingen (VG Kell am See) and occupied for the following three decades.
At the end of 2013, young people from the Kell am See community looked after the cemetery, which had been neglected in previous years, and restored it to a worthy condition.
