Jürgen Hahn (musician)

Jürgen Hahn (born May 29, 1964 in Alsfeld ) is a German jazz trumpeter and composer .

Live and act

Hahn has been playing the trumpet since he was eleven . From 1983 to 1988 he studied orchestral music at the University of Music Würzburg, majoring in trumpet, where he also completed a postgraduate course in jazz. In addition, from 1986 he had lessons with Claudio Roditi , Cecil Bridgewater , Philip Harper and Richie Vitale . From 1991 to 1996 he had a teaching position at the GhK in Kassel; From 2009 to 2014 he taught jazz trumpet at the Carl-Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden.

Hahn not only played with his own bands, but also a. also with Marc Secara , Emanuele Cisi , Richard Roblee , Al Porcino , the Sunday Night Orchestra , Andrej Hermlin and Dusko Goykovich .

Prizes and awards

In 1985 Hahn received first prize for chamber music at the Richard Stegmann Competition at the Würzburg University of Music. With his Jürgen Hahn quintet he was awarded the promotion prize of the Landes-AG Jazz in Bayern in 1994 and received the culture prize of the city of Bad Reichenhall the next year . With the Sunday Night Orchestra he received the Bavarian Art Promotion Prize in 2004 and the Wolfram von Eschenbach Prize in 2006 .
