JCJ van der Heyden
Jacobus Cornelis Johannes , first name: Jacques van der Heyden (also JCJ Vanderheyden ) (born June 23, 1928 in 's-Hertogenbosch , † February 27, 2012 ibid) was a Dutch painter and photographer.
life and work
JCJvan der Heyden was born in North Brabant in 1928 . From 1946 to 1956 he studied painting at the Akademie voor Kunst en Vormgeving St. Joost in 's-Hertogenbosch and at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht . Van der Heyden has repeatedly worked as a guest lecturer and from 1987 taught at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam.
Between 1964 and 1975 van der Heyden experimented with film, new media , computer graphics , sound engineering , breathing exercises, photography and printing technology . In the 1970s, van der Heyden began to arrange his own paintings in his studio, as well as the old masters ( Hieronymus Bosch , Pieter Brueghel or Velasquez ) in such a way that installations were created which he then recorded as photographs or videos. In the 1980s he was interested in installations in which his own paintings are reproduced in small or fragmented form.
Travels to the Far East (1977), China (1989), the North Pole (1990) and the Himalayas (1979 and 1986) inspired him to work on emptiness, limitation and reflection. The horizon can be seen repeatedly in his paintings , although never at right angles to the plumb line on the works .
