Life

Rahel Krebs was born to Vera and René Krebs; she has an older brother named Cuno. Her nickname "Jaël" originated in her early childhood when she pronounced the "R" of her real first name as "J". As "Jaël" she later appeared as a singer and also had her official first name changed to Jaël. On July 1, 2012, Jaël announced on her Facebook page that she had married her partner Roger and would no longer use her maiden name. Best of all she would be simply “Jaël” - if you want to write down a surname, please use the pseudonym surname “Malli” from now on.

From then on she appeared as a singer under her first name “Jaël” and used “Jaël Malli” as an actress and public figure. Jaël became a mother for the first time at the end of 2017.

Jaël developed a love of music in her childhood; she sang and played the guitar . At the age of 13, she joined a school band that sang popular hits and took part in an annual school band concert. After such a concert in 1994, members of the Bern band MaSH noticed her and accepted her into their band. Together they performed at various concerts and released the CD "MASH" ( DFP-Music / BMG). Between 1997 and 1998, Jael joined various bands with whom she played several concerts (including as a background singer of Neuchatel reggae band "The Moonraisers" the Bernese radio band "Ineffect" and the dialect - hip-hop group "The Hobbitz").

In the autumn of 1998 Jaël joined the band Lunik , where she worked as lead singer, co-producer and composer until the band split up in 2013 . Lunik was successful in Switzerland for years, achieved gold or platinum status with several CDs and had numerous hits in the charts and radio charts.

In 2004 Jaël released the single "Always On My Mind" together with DJ Tatana , which entered the Swiss charts at number 6 . In the same year, a Swiss press jury voted it one of the “100 most important Swiss”.

In 2007 Jaël founded the Duo MiNa together with Lunik member Luk Zimmermann , in which she was responsible for singing, composition, lyrics and production . The MiNa album “Playground Princess”, released in autumn 2007, entered the Swiss charts at number 6; This was followed by a tour through Switzerland and, as a support act for Minor Majority, through the south of Norway .

The Canadian band Delerium worked with Jaël on several songs. "After All" from the album "Chimera" (2003) reached number 1 in the Svensson and Gielen Remix on the dance charts in England and also with the songs "Lost And Found" from the album "Nuages Du Monde" (2006) and "Light Your Light" ”From the album“ Music Box Opera ”(2012), as well as more recently with“ Keep on Dreaming ”from the album“ Mythologie ”(2016), Jaël has won international fans in the electronic music scene. In 2008, with “Tired” on the album “Sehnsucht”, a collaboration with the German music project Schiller followed , which Jaël also accompanied on the Germany tour in the same year . Live there she sang another song called "I need you", which she also wrote together with Christopher von Deylen

On October 23, 2015 Jaël released her solo album "Shuffle the Cards". It entered the Swiss charts at number 2 and was only surpassed by a tribute album for Polo Hofer , in which she was also involved. On February 19, 2016 Jaël released a deluxe version with remixes, acoustic versions and live recordings of "Shuffle the Cards". The deluxe version contains a total of 34 songs.

In October 2016 the CD "Acoustic" was released, which contains several songs by Jaël, but also by MiNa and Lunik in acoustic trio versions.

"Orkestra" was released on October 27, 2017, a live CD that was recorded in June of the same year at a concert by Jaël with the Lithuanian chamber orchestra "Klaipéda Kamerinis Orkestras". This CD, which was also released on limited vinyl, contains songs from the last 20 years of Jaël's career. This ranges from collaborations with Schiller, Delerium, Mich Gerber, DJ Tatana, MiNa and Luniksongs to Jaël solo songs, all in new orchestrated versions, exclusively singing, piano and orchestra.
