Jackson Alexander Irvine (born March 7, 1993 in Melbourne ) is an Australian football player .

Career

Jackson Irvine, who was born in Melbourne in 1993 , moved from Melbourne Victory to Celtic Glasgow in Scotland in 2010 . Two years later he made his professional debut for the Bhoys when he came on for Victor Wanyama in the league game against Hibernian Edinburgh . Before the start of the 2013/14 season , the central midfielder was loaned out to league rivals FC Kilmarnock until January 2014 . In January, both teams decided to extend the loan until the end of the season. In September 2014 Irvine was loaned to the first division club Ross County until the end of the season, for which he completed 28 league appearances and scored two goals. In July 2015 Irvine was signed by the club from the Scottish Highlands . At the end of the 2015/16 season , Irvine moved to the English third division club Burton Albion .

National team

Since his father comes from Aberdeen, Scotland , Irvine ran three times for the U-19 juniors from Scotland after joining Celtic in 2011. He later decided to play for his native Australia. From 2012 he played in the Socceroos U-20 after making his debut against Portugal . In October 2013 he made his debut for the Australian senior team against Canada . He was also in the squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where Australia was eliminated in the preliminary round after two defeats against France and Peru and a draw against Denmark . Irvine was substituted on for Tom Rogic in all three games .
