Jade Uru

Jade Uru (born October 20, 1987 in Invercargill ) is a former New Zealand rower . He was third in the 2010 World Cup.

Athletic career

Jade Uru finished fifth in the four without a helmsman at the U23 World Championships in 2008, and in 2009 he won the title together with Simon Watson , Hamish Burson and Tyson Williams . At the 2009 World Championships in the adult class, the four New Zealanders finished ninth. In 2010 the World Championships took place on Lake Karapiro in New Zealand. Uru, Watson, Burson and David Eade won the bronze medal behind the French and the Greeks. In 2011, Jade Uru was the only remaining from the previous four-man, in the line-up of Jade Uru, Benjamin Hammond , James Dallinger and Christopher Harris , the four-man finished eighth at the World Championships in Bled . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London Tyson Williams, Jade Uru, Sean O'Neill and Christopher Harris rowed to eleventh place. In 2013, Jade Uru finished 13th with the uncontrolled foursome at the World Championships .

In 2014 Uru switched to the double quad . At the World Championships in Amsterdam , Jade Uru, John Storey , Nathan Flannery and Christopher Harris took twelfth place. In 2015, Karl Manson , John Storey, George Bridgewater and Jade Uru came second behind the German double scull at the Rowing World Cup in Lucerne. At the World Championships in France , the New Zealanders missed the direct Olympic qualification with ninth place. At the last qualifying regatta in 2016 in Lucerne, Nathan Flannery, Jade Uru, George Bridgewater and John Storey took third place behind the Russians and Canadians, but moved up after the Russians were disqualified from doping. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the four New Zealanders rowed to tenth and last place.

Jade Uru's brother Storm Uru was also a two-time Olympian in rowing.
