Becher began playing soccer at FC Penzberg and later moved to the soccer department of the Regensburg gymnastics club .

Obliged for the season by SpVgg Fürth , he played for them as a striker from 1934 to 1937 in the Gauliga Bayern , in one of initially 16, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as the highest division in the German Reich .
