Jakob Feer

Jakob Feer (born June 14, 1472 in Lucerne ; † August 20, 1541 in Buttisholz ) came from the patrician Feer family. He was a minor councilor , governor , mayor and delegate to the Diet .

Life

Jakob I Feer was the son of Leopold (Lüpold) VI Feer (1445–1502) and Elisabeth, b. Chandler. His grandfather (and father of Leopold VI) was the Lucerne mayor Hans Feer . Jakob I was married to Maria Dorothea von Meran (1477–1549), a daughter of Niklaus von Meran . Jakob and Dorothea Feer had 11 children, including the later Twingherrn and church bailiff Jakob II.

The grandson of Jakob I (and son of Jakob II), Leopold IX Feer , had Buttisholz Castle built in 1570/71 . From then on, the family had the suffix Feer von Buttisholz .

He was an opponent of the Reformation and a leading French partisan. He died of the plague on August 20, 1541 .

From 1502 he belonged to the Grand Council , from 1504 to the Small Council . From 1505 to 1507 he was governor of Büron and Triengen , 1514–16 and 1521–23 to Rothenburg , 1519–21 to Mendrisio , 1523–25 to Ruswil , 1525–27 and 1529–31 to Willisau and 1531–33 to Lugano .

In 1533, 1537 and 1539 he was mayor of Lucerne. 1526 he acquired from the Constance cathedral chapter the Kollatur Buttisholz . From 1527 he served as a Twingherr (judge for minor offenses in his judicial district) in Grossdietwil and Grosswangen .

From 1521 he was repeatedly delegate to the Lucerne Parliament .
