Leopold IX Feer from Buttisholz

Leopold IX Feer von Buttisholz (* May 5, 1542 ; † June 20, 1609 in Buttisholz ) came from the Lucerne patriciate and is the builder of Buttisholz Castle . He was councilor, Twingherr (judge), governor and delegate of the Diet.

Life

Leopold (Lüpold) Feer von Buttisholz was a son of the Twingherrn and church bailiff Jakob II. Feer von Buttisholz (1508–1550) and Margarethe von Fleckenstein, a daughter of the mayor and manufacturer Heinrich I von Fleckenstein (1484–1559). The grandfather of Leopold IX. (and father of Jakob II.) was the mayor Jakob Feer .

In 1560 Leopold moved to the University of Freiburg im Breisgau , where he lived with the humanist Heinrich Loriti , an ardent opponent of the Reformation . 1561–63 he studied in Paris and Padua .

He was a Knight of the Order of St. Mark .

Services

He was council judge and Twingherr (judge for minor offenses in his judicial district) at Heratingen, Ratoldswyl, Ottenhusen and Emmen .

In 1570/71 he built Buttisholz Castle in the state in which it has been preserved to this day.

In 1563 he was elected to the Grand Council and in 1570 to the Small Council . In 1572 he was Lucerne's envoy to the annual accounts in Lugano , Locarno and the Maggia Valley . 1575-78 he was bailiff to Munster , 1576 and 1582 ambassador of the Catholic places by Venice in trade and mercenary things. 1586-89 he served as Seckelmeister . In 1589 he was elected bailiff in Thurgau for the years 1590–91. From 1593 he was Pannerherr . From 1595 he was a delegate to the Diet several times . 1597–98 Governor of Ruswil , 1603–04 of Willisau .
