James Henry Neidhart (born February 8, 1955 in Tampa , Florida , United States - † August 13, 2018 in Calgary , Alberta , Canada ), also known as Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart , was a Canadian-American wrestler and actor . His most noticeable feature was his goatee .

Private

Jim Neidhart lived in Calgary until his death on August 13, 2018 and was married to Ellen Hart (a daughter of Stu Hart ). Neidhart was the father of Natalie Katherine Neidhart , who is currently under contract as Natalya with the WWE . In addition to her, he had two other daughters.

In September 2010, he was arrested on several offenses.

Neidhart had Alzheimer's disease and suffered an attack on August 13, 2018 that resulted in a fatal fall.

Career

football

Neidhart first played American football for the Dallas Cowboys and the Oakland Raiders . He later went to Canada, where he trained as a wrestler from Stu Hart. This is also where he got his nickname "Anvil" ( anvil ) after winning an anvil throwing competition. He also celebrated successes as a shot putter (19.85 m).

Wrestling

His wrestling debut took place in 1979 at Stampede Wrestling of the Hart family, into which he had meanwhile married. Here he won the tag team title twice (1980 with Hercules Ayala , 1983 with Mr. Hito ). After a detour to Florida, where he became Southern Heavyweight Champion and Tag Team Champion (together with Krusher Krushchev ), he switched to the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now World Wrestling Entertainment ), where he and his brother-in-law Bret Hart founded the Hart Foundation started. Together they were at the top of the league for several years and won the tag team title twice.

After the team was disbanded in 1991, he briefly appeared together with Bret's brother Owen Hart as the New Foundation, before he was fired from the WWF in February 1992. He subsequently played a few matches for Eastern Championship Wrestling before joining New Japan Pro Wrestling for a few months . In May 1993 he made his debut in World Championship Wrestling , but already in October he left the promotion again. In 1994 Neidhart returned to the King of the Ring in the WWF, where he intervened in Bret Hart's title match against Diesel . He later formed a tag team with Owen Hart, which, however, only existed for a short time due to Neidhart's renewed dismissal. In the summer of 1996 he appeared as a masked wrestler Who? again for the WWF, but since the gimmick was not well received by the fans, there were only a few matches. After a detour to Ultimate Championship Wrestling , he returned to WWF in 1997 and formed a new edition of the Hart Foundation together with Bret and Owen Hart, the "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith and Brian Pillman . After what became known as the Montreal Screwjob , he followed his brother-in-law Bret Hart to the WCW . However, he did not celebrate any major successes here.

He won the next gold in 2000 when he and the Blue Meanie won the Southern Tag Team title of Maryland Championship Wrestling in a new edition of the "New Foundation" . A year later he succeeded in winning the UWA heavyweight title. After that he was active in various other leagues without achieving any major success. Until their dissolution in 2008 Neidhart was in the promotion USA Xtreme Wrestling (UXW) under contract.

On April 6, 2019, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of the Hart Foundation.
