Jamie Ness (born March 2, 1991 in Irvine ) is a Scottish football player . The central midfielder comes from the youth division of the Glasgow Rangers and has been under contract with FC Dundee since 2019 . He also played in various Scottish junior national teams until 2012.

Career

Glasgow Rangers

Ness played in the Rangers' junior division since 2007 before joining the professional squad in 2010. He made his debut in December 2010 in a 4-1 win against Motherwell FC . After starting the game for the first time a few days later at the Old Firm against Celtic Glasgow and scoring his first goal for Rangers in the Scottish League Cup in February , he extended his contract by two years in March 2011 until the end of the 2012/13 season. In the following season he had to struggle with a protracted groin injury , for the treatment of which he consulted the German national team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt in London. As a result, he completed only five competitive games in the entire season, at the end of which he was champion with the Rangers .

In February 2012, the club had to file for bankruptcy due to impending tax back payments and penalties in the tens of millions and was downgraded to the fourth Scottish league as a result. Since the former operating company was dissolved at the same time and a new one was installed under a new investor consortium, the Scottish players' union ( PFA Scotland ) ensured that all players were free to leave the club. Ness made use of this right and was able to terminate his contract after a separate "targeted dismissal negotiation" ( constructive dismissal ).

Stoke City

In early July 2012, Ness signed a four-year contract with Stoke City . However, he could only be used towards the end of the month, as FIFA only granted him permission to play at that time; one was still in dispute over the termination of the contract with the Rangers . To his competitive debut he came in the 3: 4 defeat against Swindon Town in the Football League Cup , where he injured himself again in overtime, the team had to continue playing outnumbered and Swindon managed the decisive goal.

National team

Ness played through the U-17 , U-19 and U-21 national teams of his home country.
