Jamiruddin Sircar
Jamiruddin Sircar ( Bengali : জমীরুদ্দিন সরকার , Jamīruddin Sarkār ; born December 1, 1931 in Nayabari, Bengal ) is a Bangladeshi lawyer and recognized author on international law. As a long-time parliamentary chairman , he was President of the Republic of Bangladesh for several months due to the resignation of AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury in June 2002 . He is also a co-founder of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party .
biography
Jamiruddin Sircar comes from a village in the Panchagarh district in what is now the state of Bangladesh. After studying law at the University of Dhaka, he began a career as a lawyer, which he continued in Great Britain from 1961 after obtaining an English degree . Returned to his homeland, he worked at the highest court in Bangladesh.
In 1977, Sircar was sent by then President Ziaur Rahman as a member of the Bangladeshi delegation to the UN General Assembly in New York . During the following four years of his activity he made a name for himself with numerous, in some cases important, publications on international law, from which “Glimpses of International Law” and “Stronger United Nations for Peaceful Welfare World” stand out.
After 1981 he became increasingly involved in domestic politics. He has held ministerial positions in the cabinets of several presidents, including Minister for Land Reform, Urban Development, Justice and Minister for Science and Research. In his predestined role as Foreign Minister, he led Bangladesh's delegation to more than 25 international conferences and thus played a key role in the further development of international law, including making a decisive contribution to international industrial and commercial law, the law of the sea and strengthening the legal position of the United Nations at.
Sircar was then elected Member of Parliament for four legislative terms. When AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury resigned as president on June 21, 2002 , he became the acting president according to the constitution of the country and remained so until the inauguration of his successor Iajuddin Ahmed on September 6, 2002.
