Jan Piotrowski (born January 5, 1953 in Szczurowa , Lesser Poland Voivodeship , Poland ) is a Polish clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Kielce .

Life

January Piotrowski joined in 1972 in the seminary one of the Diocese of Tarnów and received on 25 May 1980, the sacrament of Holy Orders . After years of chaplaincy in the Tarnów diocese, he went to Brazzaville in the Congo as a missionary for six years in 1985 . From 1991 to 1997 he worked in Rome for the work of spreading the faith . During this time he also studied missiology at the Institut Catholique de Paris for two years . In 1997 he was in the box at the Theological Academy in Warsaw to Dr. theol. PhD . In 1999 and 2000 he served as a missionary in Peru.

From 2000 to 2010 Piotrowski was the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Poland. In 2004 he was awarded the honorary title of Papal Honorary Chaplain ( Monsignor ). Since 2009 he has been pastor in Nowy Sącz .

On 14 December 2013 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Sinitis and auxiliary bishop in Tarnów . The episcopal ordination donated it and the same time appointed Stanisław Salaterski the Bishop of Tarnów, Andrzej Jeż , on 25 January the following year. Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, Archbishop Celestino Migliore , and the auxiliary bishop emeritus in Tarnów, Władysław Bobowski .

On October 11, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Kielce . The inauguration took place on November 29 of the same year.

In 2014 he was appointed Grand Officer of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem by Cardinal Grand Master Edwin Frederick O'Brien . On November 29, 2014, the solemn investiture in the Polish Lieutenancy took place in the Cathedral of the Assumption in Kielce .
