Jan Styrna (born January 25, 1941 in Przyborów , Lesser Poland Voivodeship ) is a Polish clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Elbląg .

Life

The Bishop of Tarnów , Jerzy Karol Ablewicz , ordained him a priest on June 27, 1965 . In 1971 he was released for a postgraduate course in pastoral theology at the Catholic University of Lublin , which he obtained with a doctorate to Dr. theol. completed.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Aquipendium and auxiliary bishop in Tarnów on June 22, 1991 . The Archbishop ad personam of Lublin , Józef Mirosław Życiński , donated him episcopal ordination on July 28 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Ignacy Tokarczuk , Archbishop of Przemyśl , and Piotr Bednarczyk , Auxiliary Bishop in Tarnów. His motto is In Nomine Domini .

On August 2, 2003 he was appointed Bishop of Elbląg and on August 23 of the same year he was appointed to the office.

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on May 10, 2014.
