Jan Vercruysse

Jan Vercruysse (* 1948 in Ostend ; † February 27, 2018 in Bruges ) was a Belgian sculptor .

life and work

Jan Vercruysse was a Flemish artist who also lived in Spain and Italy . Vercruysse preferred to work in series. His early works include photographic self-portraits. The Tombeaux series was created between 1987 and 1994, the M (M) series between 1992 and 1998 , Les Paroles [Letto] between 1998 and 2001 and PLACES from 2005 . As a sculptor, Vercruysse uses industrial materials, including COR-TEN steel , bronze , iron , and glass . In 2001 Vercruysse was awarded the Vlaamse prijs voor Beeldende Kunst .
