Jean-Marc Bustamante's work is characterized by an exchange between sculpture , painting and photography , whereby he mainly devotes his attention to photography. In his "Photographic Images" he tries to bring these different media together and thus changes our perception of these media.

In 1978 he began to create large-format color photographs, which he titled Tableaux . He was best known for his pictures that were taken in the suburbs of Barcelona and illustrate the area around the city limits.

More recently he has preferred Plexiglas as an image carrier. He is particularly interested in color.
