Jane Auro Ekimat (born June 12, 1974 ) is a Kenyan marathon runner .

Life

In the junior women's races of the World Cross Country Championships she was fifth in Stavanger in 1989 and second in Antwerp in 1991 . Both times she won gold with the team. In 1994 she set the current course record at 1:16:21 h at the GutsMuths-Rennsteiglauf half marathon .

In 1999 she came second in the Berlin Half Marathon . The following year she finished 36th on the short distance at the Cross Country World Championships in Vilamoura . In the one-time Maratona dei Due Laghi , she was second behind Catherine Ndereba on the half marathon route .

In 2002 she won the 20 km of Almeirim, and in 2003 she was fourth in the Udine half marathon and third in the Lille half marathon and the 20 km in Paris . In 2004 a victory in the Egmond half marathon was followed by third places in the Prague half marathon and the Turin marathon . Then she finished second in the Portugal Half Marathon and won the Venice Marathon .

In 2005 she won the Humarathon, the South Tyrolean Spring Half Marathon and the Taipei International Marathon , and in 2006 she won in Turin and defended her title in Taipei. In 2007 she finished second in the Hong Kong Marathon .

Jane Auro Ekimat is married to her fellow runner Joseph Cheruiyot and has three children.
