Jane Merrow
Jane Merrow (* 26. August 1941 in London , England as Jane Meirowsky ) is a British actress .
life and career
Jane Merrow was born the daughter of an Englishwoman and a German who fled to England as a Jew in the 1930s because of National Socialism. She is the granddaughter of the German dermatologist Emil Meirowsky , her aunt Lisamaria Meirowsky died in the Holocaust.
After studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art , Merrow took on her first minor roles in television and on the London theater stages, which soon gave her a decent reputation. She played in popular British series such as Simon Templar , Number 6 and Mit Schirm, Charme und Melone , in the latter she was at times a candidate for the female lead before it went to Linda Thorson . Merrow became internationally known for her portrayal of Alix of France , the youthful mistress of the king, played by Peter O'Toole , in the historical drama The Lion in Winter (1968). She received a nomination for her performance for Golden Globe Award as Best Supporting Actress .
In 1971 she played a bigger role as the blind in the hammer horror film Hands Full of Blood at the side of Eric Porter . In the same year she moved to the United States, where over the next 15 years she made guest appearances in numerous television series such as The Six Million Dollar Man , The Incredible Hulk , Hard But Kind , Magnum and MacGyver . While her acting career became calmer, she temporarily ran a multilingual employment agency in the 1990s that is part of her family. She now lives alternately in England and in Boise , Idaho , where her grandchildren live. Today she mainly appears in smaller theater and film productions.
