Jarlinson Pantano Gómez (born November 19, 1988 in Cali ( Valle del Cauca )) is a former Colombian track and road cyclist.
Career
Jarlinson Pantano began his career in 2007 with the Colombian Continental Team Colombia es Pasión . In the 2008 season he finished second overall at the Tell Grand Prix and seventh at the Tour de l'Avenir . He also started at the Road World Championships in Varese in the U23 class, where he was 50th in the time trial and 81st in the road race. The following year, Pantano won the fifth stage of the Coupe des Nations Ville Saguenay .
In 2011 Pantano won a stage of the Vuelta a Colombia . 2016 was the most successful year of his sports career, when he won a stage of the Tour du Suisse and the Tour de France . In the same year he started in the road race of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , but could not reach the goal. In 2017 he became the Colombian time trial champion and runner-up on the road. In 2018 he won a stage of the Tour of Catalonia .
doping
During a training check on February 26, 2019, Pantano tested positive for Epo . He has been temporarily suspended by the World Cycling Federation UCI . Pantano then announced his retirement from competitive cycling; although he is innocent, he does not want to waste his money on legally defending himself against the UCI. In May 2020, the UCI announced that Pantano would be banned for four years until April 2023.
