Jaro Medien is a German independent recording company that was founded in Enger in 1981 and primarily publishes world music and jazz , but is also active in the areas where classical and medieval music meet. A concert agency is attached.

history

Ulrich Balß founded the company to give the audience the opportunity to experience the cross-genre band Piirpauke , which he supervised in concerts, on records. Some of the artists have been loyal to the Bremen-based publisher and label for 25 years. The company has now produced more than 250 records and released them on the Jaro label. Some of these publications received outstanding awards. The Bulgarian women's choir Angelite was nominated for two Grammys in 1993. In 1995 Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan won the UNESCO International Music Prize and the Warsaw Village Band received the BBC World Music Award, as well as the Polish Fryderyk (three times) and, in November 2011, the quarterly German Record Critics' Award . In 2011 Hazmat Modine was awarded the Charles Cross Academy Grand Prix du Disque .
