history

The place was founded along the Jasienicza stream "from wild roots" under German law by Henryk von Grochotowice and Piotr von Wola according to the founding privilege from the year 1335 of the queen widow Hedwig von Kalisch . The topographical name comes from the ash (Polish jesion). It has belonged to the Starostei of Lanckorona Castle since it was founded .

During the first partition of Poland , Jasienica became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Jasienica came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the General Government .

From 1975 to 1998 Jasienica was part of the Kraków Voivodeship .
