Jason Hewitt (born August 28, 1983 in Manchester ) is a former British ice hockey player who played for ten years with the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite Ice Hockey League .

Career

Jason Hewitt began his career as a hockey player with the Altrincham, southwest of Manchester. There he played for both the Altrincham Aces and their junior team, the Altrincham Tigers. 2003 initially moved to the Telford Wildfoxes in the English Premier Ice Hockey League , but was signed shortly after the start of the season by the Manchester Phoenix from his hometown, for which he was on the ice in the Elite Ice Hockey League , the top British division. For the following season he moved to league competitor London Racers , where he played until the team had to be logged off from play in late November 2005 due to safety deficiencies in their home "Lee Valley Ice Center". After playing briefly for Basingstoke Bison around the turn of the year 2005/06 , Hewitt moved to the Sheffield Steelers in early 2006, to whom he remained loyal until his retirement in 2016. With the Steelers he won the British Championship as the main round winner of the Elite Ice Hockey League in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2016 . In 2008, 2009 and 2014 he won the EIHL playoffs with the club. In addition, he won the Knock-Out Cup in 2006.

International

For Great Britain , Hewitt played at the Division I World Championships in 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 and 2014 . He was also on the ice for his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi .
