Jasper Engelhardt

Jasper Engelhardt (* 1994 in Arlesheim , Canton Basel-Landschaft ) is a German actor .

Life

Jasper Engelhardt was born in Switzerland , but grew up in Germany . He first completed an apprenticeship as an electronics technician . Engelhardt made his first theater experiences as a teenager at the age of 14 in the school theater at the Waldorf School in Schopfheim . In 2012 he performed with the theater group of the Jacob-Grimm-Schule in the Kulturhaus “Dock 4” in Kassel . Further school theater productions (including at the Waldorf School in Berlin-Dahlem ) followed.

After graduating from the Free Waldorf School in Kassel in 2014 , he returned to Switzerland and in the same year began his bachelor's degree in acting at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), which he completed in 2017. Engelhardt initially lived on the edge of the poverty line in Zurich. In order to secure his existence, he containerized , picked up leftover meals in restaurants and operated food sharing . At first he received a lot of criticism from his lecturers during his studies, but this spurred him on to continue. Between 2018 and 2020 he studied acting at the ZHdK in Zurich and at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York .

During his studies, he was cast for the male lead in the Munich “ Polizeiruf ” “ The Ghost of Freedom ” (first broadcast: August 2018). Under the direction of Jan Bonny and alongside Matthias Brandt and Joachim Król , he embodied the right-wing extremist German- Iranian Farim Kuban. While preparing for the role, he studied numerous neo-Nazi documentaries and gained 14 kilos. His performance was in television criticism a. a. described as "impressive", TV viewers highlighted Engelhardt's "intense game". For this work he was nominated for the German Acting Award 2019 .

He was involved in several theater productions at the Zurich University of the Arts. During his studies he also played in the “ Cabaret Voltaire ”, at the “Schlachthaus Theater” in Bern and in the “Kulturhaus Helferei” in Zurich . In 2017 he made his debut at the Schauspielhaus Zürich in the play " Peter Pan " (director: Ingo Berk ). In 2018 he appeared in the series of events “Musique Bewegt” in the world premiere of the melodrama “No. 467 ”for an actor and chamber ensemble as part of the“ Portrait Concert - Eric Domenech ”in Kassel and Weimar .

In the fourth season of the TV series “ WaPo Bodensee ” (2020) he took on one of the main roles in the episode as the psychotic son of a Swiss entrepreneur who was responsible for the death of a high school graduate on Lake Constance .

After several years in Zurich, Engelhardt now lives in Berlin .
