Jayson Meyer (born February 21, 1965 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a former German - Canadian ice hockey player .

Career

After several seasons in one of the highest junior leagues in Canada - the Western Hockey League - with various teams, he played his first season in senior ice hockey in the AHL with the Rochester Americans team in the 1985/86 season , after being in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round in 94th place was selected by the Buffalo Sabers .

After he did not play in the National Hockey League until the 1986/87 season , he moved to Europe in the summer of 1987, where he started in the 1987/88 season in Germany first in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga at EC Kassel and then at EHC Essen-West and EV Landsberg played. In the 1990/91 season he was promoted to the Bundesliga with the Krefeld EV , where he played for Krefeld in the 1994/95 season even after the DEL 1994 was introduced . After two seasons with the Kölner Haien , he moved back to Krefeld, where he played until the 1998/99 season. He then moved to the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga, where he played until the 2003/04 season, first with the Hamburg Crocodiles and later with the teams from SC Bietigheim-Bissingen , SC Riessersee and EC Bad Nauheim .

In the 2005/06 season he played again in the major league at EV Landsberg 2000, where he showed his class as a defender until his last game: When it came to the penalty shootout in the fifth play-off semi-final game between EV Landsberg 2000 and Hannover Indians had come to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga (score was 1: 1 a. V.), Meyer was the only player who converted his penalty and thus shot the EVL2000 into the 2nd Bundesliga. In January 2011 Meyer returned to Germany to play for the EC Kassel Huskies in the Hessenliga.

International

Meyer wore the jersey of the German national team 72 times in international competitions , for which he participated in the 1994 Winter Olympics and in the World Championships from 1993 to 1996.
