Rocks on the Jeřabina |
The Jeřabina (German Haselstein ) is a granite gneiss rock cliff in the Czech part of the Ore Mountains .
geography
The Jeřabina lies on the Ore Mountains ridge between Seiffen / Erzgeb. and the city of Litvínov . It is located two kilometers southeast of the border town of Mníšek on the road to Janov . The Větrný vrch (799 m) rises to the north. To the east lies the Loupnice valley with the Janov dam . To the southeast lies Křížatky .
history
Since the Haselstein offers a wide view over the Egergraben to the Bohemian Central Uplands , shortly after the establishment of the Oberleutensdorfer Association for the promotion of tourism and natural history purposes in the Ore Mountains and the Bohemian Central Uplands in 1880, the idea of building a lookout tower arose . This was realized in 1884 for 1140 guilders and on October 9 - other sources speak of August 24 - the mountain association inaugurated a wooden tower on the Haselstein. The roofed tower 11 meters high, erected on a 3 meter high stone pedestal, was not able to withstand the harsh weather conditions and was already damaged in the early 1890s. After further damage in 1908, the mountain association lacked the money for the repair, so that the tower had to be closed first until the funds for its repair were collected. During the First World War, the again dilapidated tower was plundered, the windows, doors, the stairs and the lightning rod disappeared. After another repair, the tower was finally left to decay. After the establishment of a branch of the Club of Czech Tourists in Oberleutensdorf, they made their first excursion to Haselstein that same year on October 4, 1925. The ruinous lookout tower collapsed in January 1928 during a storm.
Shortly after the collapse, the Gebirgsverein Brüx-Oberleutensdorf made the decision to replace the building, which, for reasons of cost, should only be implemented as a simple weather roof ( arbor ) over the stone tower base. On September 29, 1929, he inaugurated the new observation tower on the Haselstein, which was named Illing-Weber-Warte after two deserving club members . During the Second World War, a guard with air defense was stationed on the Haselstein to protect the Maltheuern hydrogenation works .
The cliff had no Czech name until 1945 and after the end of the Second World War it was renamed “Jeřabina”, derived from jeřáb ( rowanberry ). The arbor fell victim to vandalism in the post-war period, so that only the stone walls of the pedestal, which can be reached inside via a chained wooden ladder and on which a wooden bench was placed, remained. A storage area with a fireplace and, for a time, a table and benches were set up below the platform, which led to increasing littering of the cliff. The ladder in the pedestal was destroyed several times.
After the Velvet Revolution, efforts were made to rebuild a lookout tower since the 1990s. In 2006 the Memento Citizens' Association from Litvínov had plans to revive the lookout point, but they were not implemented. After 500,000 crowns were won for the project through sponsors on the initiative of the "Sport areál" Klíny , the area was cleared of rubbish in 2008. In 2009 the “Sport areál” Klíny and the city of Most had the lookout point restored with the support of United Energy as and Emeran 1860 sro. In May 2009, the clearing, uncovering and repair of the overgrown steps to the top of the rock began. In June 2009 the Pavel Císař company began rebuilding the arbor. Based on old photographs by Petra Holubičková, it was recreated from its predecessor from 1929 and has been accessible since June 28, 2009. Information boards in Czech, German and English have been placed below the lookout point.
Climbing area
On the Jeřabina there are several rock formations up to 15 meters high. At the northern tip of the cliff are the Psí hlava ( dog's head ), the Střecha ( roof ) and the Vyhlídka ( view ), to the south the Pod Rozhlednou and Jeřabinová. The Psí hlava and the Nepravé Skalní okno ( False Rock Eye ) can also be climbed by laypeople. In June 2004, 27 short climbs with levels of difficulty between III and IV were registered in the area.
view
From the Jeřabina there is a panoramic view. To the north, the mountains around Seiffen are visible, to the northeast the Loupnice valley and behind it the Loučná , to the southeast the industrial area in the North Bohemian Basin and behind it parts of the Bohemian Central Uplands with the Bořeň , Milešovka , Zlatník and Ressl and to the west Nová Ves v Horách and the wind farm there.
Paths to the summit
- A yellow marked hiking route leads from Mníšek on the road to Janov to under the Jeřabina and ends after a short climb on the cliff
- From the Janov dam, the red hiking route also leads over the aforementioned road to the Jeřabina and ends there as well.
