Jean-Baptiste Marie Anne Antoine de Latil (born March 6, 1761 in Sainte-Marguerite , † December 1, 1839 in Reims ) was a French clergyman , Roman Catholic Archbishop of Reims and cardinal .

Life

Jean-Baptiste de Latil was ordained a priest in 1784 . Pope Pius VII appointed him titular bishop of Amyclae on March 8, 1816 . The episcopal ordination donated him François de Pierre de Bernis (1752-1823), Archbishop of Albi , on April 7th of the same year; Co - consecrators were Jean-Baptiste du Chilleau (1735-1824), Bishop of Chalon-sur-Saône , and Jean-Charles de Coucy (1746-1824), Bishop of La Rochelle .

On August 8, 1817, Pius VII appointed him Bishop of Chartres . The ceremonial introduction took place on October 1, 1817. On April 26, 1824 he was appointed Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Reims , whose leadership he took over on July 12, 1824.

In the 5th consistory under Pope Leo XII. on March 13, 1826 he was elevated to cardinal with the rank of cardinal priest with the titular church of San Sisto (St. Sixtus) in Rome . He took part in the conclave in 1829 ; Cardinal Francesco Saverio Maria Felice Castiglioni was elected Pope Pius VIII there, but he died on November 30, 1830. He also took part in the following conclave from 1830–1831 , when Cardinal Bartolomeo Alberto (Mauro) Cappellari became Pope Gregory XVI. elected.

He died in the episcopate and was buried in Reims Cathedral.
