Jean Lang

Jean Lang (born August 16, 1921 in St. Dizier ; † May 27, 2016 in Dillingen ) was a French engineer and industrial manager .

Life

Lang studied at the École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures in Paris and, after completing his studies, joined Dillinger Hütte as a production engineer in 1946 and worked in the ingot mill and the Thomasstahlwerk . In 1951 he became head of the foundries , so that he was also involved in setting up the roller foundry .

In 1967, Lang became Technical Director of Dillinger Hütte, succeeding Paul Desfossez. In 1968 he began the construction of the new 3.4-m heavy sheet -Walzwerks, the first to the end of 1971 slab was rolled. In 1974 Lang became CEO of Dillinger Hütte as the successor to General Director Mesqui. Lang pushed ahead with the expansion of the Dillinger Hütte with other major projects. The central coking plant in Saar began operations in 1984 . In 1985 the 5.5 m four- high roll stand was built and blast furnace 5 of the ROGESA Roheisengesellschaft Saar was blown , with which the entire Saarland steel industry was supplied with pig iron . In 1987/1988 the Saar industrial port Saarlouis / Dillingen was opened. To this end, Lang planned the cooperation or merger with Saarstahl .

On January 1, 1989, Lang became chairman of the supervisory board of Dillinger Hütte and also chaired Saarstahl's supervisory board (until 1993). In May 1993 he became Saarstahl's bankruptcy trustee together with Hans Ringwald . They restructured the company and took it out of bankruptcy in 2001. For the new Montan-Stiftung-Saar , Lang assumed the chairmanship of the board of trustees from 2001-2007 .
