Jefferson de Oliveira Galvão (born January 2, 1983 in São Vicente , São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian goalkeeper. He was mostly active in the Botafogo FR .

Career

Jefferson started his professional career in 2001 at Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . With these he became national champion of Minas Gerais in 2002 . Since the goalkeeper was only used irregularly, he was loaned to Botafogo FR between 2003 and 2005 and thus missed the 2003 Brazilian championship and the national cup by Cruzeiro. With Botafogo, Jefferson remained untitled in the two years in which he represented their colors, but developed into a regular player during this time. In 2005 he did not return to Belo Horizonte, but transferred to Europe, to the Turkish Süper Lig , to Trabzonspor . There he should be the successor of the Australian Michael Petkovic . At Trabzonspor, the goalkeeper prevailed against his rivals Ahmet Şahin and Tolga Zengin and went into the 2005/06 season as number 1 . For the second half of the following season , however, Jefferson lost his place in the starting line-up and was ousted by Tolga Zengin. After he was rarely used in 2007/08 , the goalkeeper decided in summer 2008 to move to league rivals Konyaspor . After he went back to the new season as number 1 , Jefferson lost his post again after the first half of the season and had to watch his rival Oğuzhan Bahadır guard the goal of Konyaspor. The club was relegated to the end of the season from the Turkish first division. Finally, he decided to leave Turkey again and return to his former club Botafogo , where he re-established himself, found his old strength and moved back into the circle of the national team. With Botafogo , Jefferson won the Taça Rio , the Taça Guanabara and the State Championship of Rio de Janeiro in 2010 . During this time Jefferson knew how to convince with good performances, which in 2010 earned him both the title of best goalkeeper and the title of best player at the State Cup in Rio de Janeiro. After the Cup in 2014 his club had in the Série B dismount. The Série B could be won in 2015 and with it the direct rise. After the 2018 season, Jefferson officially retired from his active career.

National team

Jefferson was Brazil's junior international. In 2003 he won the Junior World Cup with the country's U-20s . After Fernando Henrique went into the tournament as the regular goalkeeper, he was there from the quarterfinals and played a total of four games, including the final against Spain, in which Brazil won 1-0. Soon after, he moved into the field of vision of the senior national team for the first time . But it was not until 2011 that the goalkeeper of new coach Mano Menezes was appointed to the squad for the Copa America in Argentina.
