Jeffrey Melissant (born August 14, 1990 in Tilburg ) is a Dutch ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Nijmegen Devils in the Belgian-Dutch BeNe League since 2018 .

Career

Clubs

Jeffrey Melissant began his career as a hockey player with the Tilburg Trappers in his hometown. First he played in the second team, the "Toekomstteam" in the Eerste divisie , the second highest Dutch division. As a 16-year-old he made his debut in the club's first team in the honor division . In 2007 and 2008 he was the Dutch national champion with the team from North Brabant and also a cup winner in 2008 . In 2015/16 he played with the Zoetermeer Panters in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe League . After a brief return to Tilburg, he also played in the BeNe League from 2016 to 2018 for Hijs Hokij Den Haag . In 2018 he was able to win the BeNe League and the Dutch championship with the team. He then moved to league rivals Nijmegen Devils .

International

Melissant took part with the Dutch team at the U18 World Championships in 2007 in Division II and in 2008 in Division I, and at the U20 World Championships in 2009 and 2010 in Division II.

With the men's national team of his country, he took part for the first time in the 2016 World Cup in Division II, where he was promoted to Division I. There he played at the 2017 World Cup .
