Ekaterina Georgievna Dewlet

Yekaterina Georgijewna Dewlet ( Russian Екатерина Георгиевна Дэвлет ; born August 16, 1965 in Moscow ; † August 23, 2018 ibid) was a Soviet - Russian prehistorian and university professor .

Life

Dewlet, daughter of the prehistorian Marianna Artaschirowna Dewlet , studied at the Lomonosov University Moscow (MGU) in the history faculty . From 1986 she took part in archaeological expeditions in Mexico , Abkhazia , Kyrgyzstan , Siberia , the Far East and Central Asia . After graduating in 1990 she graduated from the Postgraduate Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow (completion 1994). In 1995 she defended her dissertation on the art of pre-Columbian southern Central America for her doctorate as a candidate for historical studies .

From 1995 Dewlet worked as a research assistant in the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2000 she became an employee of the Central America Center. In 2003 she defended her doctoral thesis on the study, preservation and use of rock art .

Dewlet headed projects of the Russian Foundation for Humanities and Social Sciences and the Russian Fund for Basic Research as well as the program Ethnocultural Interactions in Eurasia of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the program Social Potential of the History of the Department of Historical- Philological Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences . She was a member of the rock art committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).

Dewlet gave lectures on archeology, introduction to regional geography and history of pre-Columbian America at the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow .

  • Zabelin Prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences 2012 together with MA Dewlet for the book on Myths in Stone: The World of Rock Art of Russia
