Jelena Glebova (born June 16, 1989 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Estonian figure skater . She is multiple national champion.

Until the 2010/11 season Glebova was trained by the former Soviet figure skater Anna Levandi (known as active by her maiden name Kondrashova ) and started for the club Anna Levandi FSC. Since the 2011/12 season she has been training in the US Hackensack under Igor Krokavec and Craig Maurizi. Her older brother Ilya Glebov is also a figure skater. He is multiple Estonian champion in pair skating.

Career

In 2003 Glebova started for the first time at the Estonian championships and took third place. In 2004 she became Estonian champion and began to take part in international competitions. At the Junior World Championships she is 27th. In 2005 they made it into the top ten of an international competition for the first time with 8th place at the Junior Grand Prix in Long Beach . She again won the Estonian championships and started at the European championships and world championships for seniors.

In 2006 Glebova took part in the Winter Olympics in Turin . She reached the 26th place there. At the European Championships she was able to improve from 25th place in the previous year to 15th place. In 2007 she celebrated her first podium finish in an international competition with third place behind her compatriot Svetlana Issakova at the Junior Grand Prix in Liberec . At the Junior World Championships, she finished sixth. At the World Championships for Seniors, Glebova was able to improve by 15 places compared to 2005 and took 18th place. At the European Championships she was 12.

In the 2008 season Glebova started for the first time at the Grand Prix in the senior category. At the Nebelhorn Trophy she was able to fight for sixth place. In December 2007, Glebova suffered an injury to the knee joint and had to take a six-week break from training, which meant that she could not participate in the national championships and the European championships. Only five weeks before the Junior World Championships did Glebova start training on the ice again. After a good short program with fifth place, the training deficit became noticeable during the freestyle and Glebova fell back to eleventh place. Then she started at the World Championships for Seniors. After a 20th place in the short program, Glebova, the only athlete besides Yukari Nakano who made it through the freestyle flawlessly , improved to 15th place overall thanks to the tenth best freestyle of all starters. Glebova also managed a good freestyle program at the European Figure Skating Championships in Helsinki in 2009 . With the ninth-best freestyle she improved from 13th to twelfth place. However, she could not repeat this performance at the Figure Skating World Championships in 2009 and after a few mistakes fell from 13th place after the short program to 16th place. Glebova also took part in the Winter Universiade in Harbin in 2009 , where she just missed a medal in fourth. Glebova achieved her best career result so far at an international championship at the 2010 European Figure Skating Championships in Tallinn , where she was able to improve from 13th to tenth place despite a fall in the three-time Rittberger in the freestyle. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the World Championships this season, she disappointed with 21st place. At the beginning of the 2010/2011 season, she only finished third in the Estonian Championship behind Gerli Liinamäe and Svetlana Issakova. Nevertheless, she started at the 2011 World Figure Skating Championships in Moscow , where she again disappointed with a 22nd place. After moving to the USA , she was able to build on her good performance. At the European Figure Skating Championships 2012 in Sheffield , she finished eleventh. At the World Figure Skating Championships 2012 in Nice , she achieved her best career result to date at a World Figure Skating Championships with the tenth best freestyle and 13th place overall.
